Heat-treated wood is a sustainable, economical and environmentally friendly solution and does not involve the use of any chemicals.

Some of the key benefits and features of thermotreated wood;
100% natural processing - only high temperatures and water vapor are used in the process
Wood is completely processed across the entire cross-section, not just near the surface, as it is the case with chemically impregnated wood
Without resin
The biological resilience of wood increases as nutrients in wood become more difficult for wood pests and molds to decompose
Dimension stability and wood resistance increases during thermotreatment
Reduced water absorption
Less deformations due to mositure change
Enviromentally friendly and fully reusable
Lighter material
During the heat treatment, the thermowood will get a beautiful brownish tone

ECO FRIENDLY

Heat-treated wood is a sustainable, economical and environmentally friendly solution and does not involve the use of any chemicals.

The treatment is carried out by placing the wood material in a chamber with an oxygenfree atmosphere at high temperature for several hours. Water vapor is used as a shielding gas and helps prevent wood from cracking and damaging during processing.

DURABILITY

Thermotreatment makes the wood more stable and has a lower ability to absorb or release moisture. This reduces the risk of swelling, shrinking, or deformity.

Our Scandinavian spruce comes from well-managed and environmentally friendly forests.

GREYING PROCESS

When exposed to UV, thermotreated wood like all timber products, will turn grey and, over time, may develop some fine fractures or breaks to the top layer. The greying effect will be noticeable in 3 to 6 months after installation. To help protect and retain the original appearance, an oil or decking finishing product is recommended.

MAINTENANCE

Our thermo wood is a long-lasting material that doesn‘t need to be maintained over time.

Regular care, on the other hand, is essential to maintain the original appearance and avoid minor cracks and splits over time. As needed, the surface treatment should be reapplied. The necessity for re-treating varies with the environment, amount of use, and degree of UV-light exposure.
